I am trying figure out how to make gift cards for my company that can be redeemed on a website. My primary concern is that someone will be able to generate a valid card code, effectively getting the item for free. I know that B&N has that scratch off on the card, but I’m not sure how that makes it more secure. I’d love to understand this type of security technology better and what companies provide solutions.
I am talking about gift cards that have a redemption code on the back..
Even if we limit the number of attempts that one computer gets to enter an activated card code, someone might still be able to potentially buy a card and generate similar number based off it and find it to be active. I am playing devils advocate because our scale will be fairly large. I am seeing if I can reduce the chances of being cracked to a near impossibility.
